Type-specific training quickly provides an intimate picture of an airplane from instructors who have collected years of experience.
For Mooneys, the clean airframe means that particular attention must be paid to landing speed. An extra 5-10 knots can mean that the aircraft will bounce. In the worst cases, directional control can be lost and a prop strike (or worse) results.
Mooneys are placarded to avoid intentional spins: for good reason. Here's one instructor's story about entering a cross-controlled stall unintentionally and what he learned from the spin that resulted. And the webmaster's account of an inadvertent spin. In my case it was directly related to training with an instructor with no Mooney time -- and who insisted on entering a full stall and recovering during commercial ticket training.
Experienced Mooney instructors can expose pilots to a better understanding of the mechanical structure of the plane; more complete checklists; assistance with learning complex GPS equipment; suggestions about maintenance; and information about systems that are outside the scope of the Pilot's Operating Handbook.
This page is intended to be a directory to Mooney-specific instructors throughout the world. For more information on their philosophy of instruction and cost, please see their web link. If an instructor also teaches for MAPA Safety Foundation's Pilot Proficiency Program, it is noted in this chart.
Instructors wishing to be added to the directory should contact Andy Czernek, aczernekATcomcast.net
Web pages can be created easily for flight instructors without their own sites. See Don Kaye's web link for a template to follow. |
